Hi friends!
It’s birthday season in our household, which gives me pause to reflect on this year as it continues to fly by. 2024 has been full of fabulous experiences for our family – and the year isn’t even over yet! We’ve experienced regular rhythms of life that come with school-aged children, and we’ve soared to new heights on our summer adventure in Europe.
Here’s a quick update from the Swiss Family Domeck in this calendar year:
★ The girls and I have been working on the 1000 Hours Outside challenge by spending many afternoons at playgrounds, parks, and pools around Orlando. *This has been a wonderful challenge and one that I am holding loosely. Regardless of whether or not we actually hit 1000 hours by December 31, this goal has impacted our family rhythms for the better: my girls play better together outside; we’ve experienced better sleeping patterns in our household; and their imaginations are kept in play!
★ I have had the pleasure of designing travel itineraries to Italy, Spain and Paris this year. I am grateful to have feedback from clients such as this: It was great to have Hailey provide guidance on our trip as it was our first time in Paris and needed her experience in navigating the city!
★ We spent three weeks in Europe this summer, exploring the Rhône-Alpes region of France and returning to our favorite places in Switzerland (i.e. Zürich and Braunwald). Blog articles forthcoming… I promise!!
★ Heidi Rose and I are in our “live performance era.” We’ve enjoyed Broadway on Tour in Orlando, and we snagged day-of tickets to The Eras Tour in Zurich! (Yes, we are Swifties!)
★ Waverley has learned how to swim on her own and embraced her inner mermaid. Convincing her to wear sunscreen is a challenge for the responsible adults in her life.
★ Both Justin and I are finding new rhythms of exercise, which our bodies are quite appreciative of, if not a bit sore at times.
★ We have clocked many hours with our families and friends, both locally and through travel, this year. We love our neighborhood, where our schools and friends are steps away from home. Truly, the daily life of the Swiss Family Domeck is blessed by these people and places.
2024 has been full of normal life and special experiences. We continue to find ways for our family to travel together and explore this wonderful world (I can’t wait to tell you more about our summer in Switzerland!), while also striving to live simply and slowly on a daily basis.
