Guys, I have some big news to share with you…
For months, I have been trying to write this post. Literally, for months I have been mulling over how to update you on our family’s story and explain my emotions behind it all.
My post was going to be called “A Lifetime of Hellos and Goodbyes.” It was going to blend our personal history with the poetic calling of a traveler. It was going to be a beautiful farewell and wordy welcome. It was going to represent the loss I feel and the hope I have. It was going to be compelling and sincere. But… it was just a beast to write and it wasn’t working!
So, you know what?
I decided you don’t need all of that fluff.
You just need to know this :

We have moved (back) to Orlando, Florida!
That’s right. We – “The Swiss Family Domeck” – are no longer living in Switzerland.
*Sniff, sniff*
We took a one-way flight out of Zurich and arrived in Orlando back in July.
And over these past few months, we have been traveling all around the southeast to see our families, slowly unpacking boxes, and buying necessary things like furniture, cars and health insurance.
Although my heart still wishes we were returning to Switzerland after a fun summer holiday, I know it’s time to find the new rhythm of our American life (yes, that’s a radio show reference!).
But rest assured, dear readers, that the adventures of the Swiss Family Domeck aren’t over!
Even though Justin, our #littleAlpenRose, #BasiltheKooiker and I won’t be jet-setting around Europe like we once did, I trust that we will continue to pursue our passion for travel and exploration nevertheless!
To keep up with our adventures on this side of the Atlantic (for now!), make sure to follow me on Instagram, where I regularly post in my Stories and share about past travels in my feed. Also, you can stay in-the-know by subscribing to Postcards from Hailey, my newsletter that is full of breaking news (like repatriation), travel tips, and special deals just for you.
Even though I am very sorry that I can’t give you live updates from the Swiss Alps anymore, I can guarantee that my family’s travel story is far from over!
Plus, Florida has many magical places to discover, too…
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN TO SHARE…
Hey y’all! Is our trans-Atlantic-move news to you or did you already know by following Global Heartbeat Travel on social media? Do you want to place a bet on the next time we will return to Switzerland? Would you actually like to read my first draft – “A Lifetime of Hellos and Goodbyes” – or did I make the right editorial call?
Special thanks and shout out to Jeremy Jude Seow for these cherished family photos. Aren’t they awesome? Check out his work at Memory Lane Productions and follow Jeremy on Facebook and Instagram, too!

Hi Hailey, a very belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. It’s been two weeks since we left Zürich for Malaysia. Just to say a very big thank you for your excellent guidance and tips for our travel to Munich, Zermatt and Zurich. The Christmas markets in Munich were amazing and thanks for recommending us Augustine’s Keller, which served really good beer and great atmosphere. Zermatt was another fantastic destination, which my daughters had so much fun in the mountain with the snow in Gornergrat. However, due to the bad weather we did not manage to take the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The apartment that we stayed, Overlook Lodge, was rated perfect 10 by most guests including me. It has a fantastic view of Matterhorn. We also had a great dinner in one of the local family restaurant, Schaferstube. All in all, we had a fantastic two weeks in London, Venice, Prague, Munich, Zermatt and Zurich!! I will post to you some pictures taken during my trip. Cheers!

It is both my wife’s hope and mine that returning to the US will be a good move. Even with all the political “BS”, I still believe that this is a great place to call home and welcome.
If you have a recommendation of someone else in Switzerland that we might follow as we plan for our trip in Dec 2019, I would appreciate that. Also, still plan to review all the stuff you have posted over time and if there is anything you would like to offer, it will be received well.

Hey David! Thank you so much for the encouragement. Of course, we are happy to be nearer to our family and friends while simultaneously missing our Swiss lifestyle. I am still happy to help you and your wife prepare for your trip though, as Switzerland is never far from my mind!
