Big Chairs, Big Changes: An Update from the Swiss Family Domeck

Hey y’all!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written a blog post, and goodness gracious, I have so much to share with you!

Yet, for all the stories and travel tidbits I have saved up in my repertoire, such as my epic trip to Nepal last November or how the coronavirus pandemic set me up for canceled trips to both Spain and Switzerland this year, today I’m going to focus on just two important updates – both of which are of a personal nature and relate back to previous posts.

First, I want to direct your attention back to Vaggaro, the toteable baby furniture that’s made for design-minded families who love to travel, and specifically highlight the Vaggaro High Chair.

Just before my #littleAlpenRose arrived in the fall of 2017, I received my complete Vaggaro One set in the mail: the frame, the cradle, the bouncer, the high chair, and their cute accessories (hello, eco-friendly lambskin liner!). I waited until our baby girl was 6 months old and could use all of the seating settings before publishing my first review of this product.

Although I have loved our Vaggaro cradle, the high chair may become my new favorite piece very soon!      -Me

Over two years later, I have been dying to tell you how amazing the Vaggaro High Chair truly is! We have used this quirky little contraption quite a bit, and even as our gal gets closer to age three, we are still using the high chair on a regular basis.

So, consider this an addendum to my initial review…

the Vaggaro High Chair may be the hippest travel-friendly furniture for tiny tots – on the planet!

To say that we have loved well and used much our portable high chair is somewhat of an understatement…

★ We have taken our Vaggaro High Chair across 7 countries. It can fit in your checked luggage or you can sling it over your shoulders as a carry-on item. Por ejemplo, we really put it to good use on our family trip to Guatemala that kicked off our 2019.

★ We have set up the high chair for meals on camper van road trips. This chair has joined us on our motorized journeys around the Scottish highlands and the Colorado Rockies. It was an awesome asset to those on-the-go adventures!

★ We always bring it to local restaurants. If we aren’t traveling, I just leave it in my car to have at the ready! It beats having to search for a clean communal high chair, and it fits our babe so much better than the generic wooden ones.

★ We use it at home, especially when we have visitors or when we visit others. If you’ve ever tried to eat with other families and realized that there are too many little people and not enough high chairs to go around, you can understand how awesome it feels to whip out your Vaggaro High Chair and ta-da… your child instantly has a place at the table!

Since becoming a mother and figuring out what baby/kid-items have been the most valuable to our family, it’s clear that we have a special fondness and attachment to our Vaggaro products. The fact that we have toted the high chair almost everywhere is proof that we have benefited from this simply delightful advice. I really can’t recommend this product enough, and I am honored to be a brand ambassador.

Now, let’s turn to the second point of this post…

The Swiss Family Domeck is expecting another baby girl this fall!

Yep. This happy news is exactly why you haven’t heard much from me on the blog in 2020. The first half of my pregnancy was rough, and on most days, I’ve had to utilize toddler nap time to take naps for myself, instead of writing for the blog.

Anyway, as you can imagine, we are delighted to grow our family, and we look forward to welcoming our newest little one home in a few months’ time. Once the world has reopened to travel, we look forward to learning how to travel as a family of four.

Moreover, it should come as no surprise that I am thrilled to utilize all of our Vaggaro settings once again, and when Baby Girl #2 is big enough, we will eagerly welcome her to the table with the help of our Vaggaro High Chair.

*Special shout out to Whitney Keilman, who recently captured these featured photos of our growing family. I will cherish them always!

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN TO SHARE…

Have you ever heard of Vaggaro and their portable personal high chair? Do you know anyone who can put it to good use? Do you have any advice on raising TWO girls or the best way to work out in-flight seating arrangements?

We are saying thanks for all things in life this week. It’s so easy to get stuck on either the big picture or the tiny details, but I believe it’s important to take it all in - like I did on this ridge overlooking #Manang Village last year while trekking the #AnnapurnaCircuit in #Nepal.

Creating a culture of gratitude takes intentionality and discipline... and it’s especially not easy when babies and toddlers demand so much of you at all hours of the day and night. Yet, here we are at the start of the holiday season, and I’m choosing to be grateful for the whole lot.

What are you thankful for this year?
Hooray, it’s the weekend! 🥳 I don’t have a Hooray, it’s the weekend! 🥳

I don’t have any big plans today (#newbornlife), but I’m recalling the joy of “Heidi Hailey” in the Himalayas last November. ☺️ Shout out to @thatdutchieguy for bringing his Polaroid camera on our #CreateConnectNepal journey... what a fun way to capture special moments, - like my favorite stretch of the #AnnapurnaCircuit in the #Manang District ❣️

What are you up to this weekend?

On November 11, 2019, the #CreateConnectNepal team and I went up and over the Thorong La Pass. At 17,769 feet (5416m), this is the pinnacle of the Annapurna Circuit and one of the highest mountain passes in the world. The day began in the dark with a grueling 4+ hour ascent through snow-kissed trails and then required a fierce descent down a bone dry valley. It demanded everything of me.

Yet, that day up and over Thorong La was just one part of my epic adventure in #Nepal last November. I am eternally grateful for that experience and cherish those memories dearly. I also miss those people a lot. ❣️
